Another year, another holiday season gone by...
What better opportunity for a HAUL recap?!
=D
( Holiday gifts received! )
Now, this was to be where I was going to detail how I spent my time during the holiday period and New Year, but instead, I'll just give a shoutout to
nikki_mischief, Simmo, and Nath.
You guys (and your friends!) are awesome. 8D
I had no specific plans for celebrating the New Year, but everything (and I do mean EVERYTHING) fell so perfectly into place, that it continues to defy logic!
Also...
What a great start to the new year!
XD
( Elite? You bet! =D )
Oh, and here's my Gamer Tag:
8-)
This post was meant to be roughly twice as ellaborate, but I feel lazy, so this is what it is.
I'll have a 2008 retrospective journal entry sometime soon.
Anyway, I hope all are well in this new year.

(Since I've been so busy lately, the following blog is a collection of entries that were intended to be posted throughout the past month, but now see public display in collected form)
Courtesy of
nikki_mischief, I was tagged to post about something that made me feel happy each day, for 8 consecutive days. Something that I initially thought would feel too much like a chore, but after a little consideration, I decided that it was worth a short. Though instead of creating a new post every day, I chose to list each day's topic, and just post them together in my next blog (IE. this one). ;-)
( - : 8 DAYS OF HAPPINESS! : - )
Deep Discount DVD haul
(Ordered : 2008.11.18 / Received : 2008.12.04)
Tracking back to the first week of recovery from my last low point, I made a rather large purchase at Deep Discount DVD's annual 25% off sale (yes, retail therapy).
Two days after I placed the order, 8 of the 9 titles ordered were shipped!

( Click for more info, and MORE photos!!! )
Comic Store Hop #2
In the hotly anticipated sequel to the first Comic Store Hop, I once again teamed up with
nikki_mischief to score some major nerd bargains - chiefly amongst out priorities was Alternate Worlds' clearance sale!
( You'll have to read this entry to see all of the photos... )

( ^ ...except this one. )
It was a totally awesome day, involving my getting to meet
mad_hatter__ and
plastic_logic, watching a hail storm, bouncing around in the rain, and just having fun in general.
But then again, how could spending a day browsing comic stores with 3 hot chicks NOT be fun? Even an appearance from Zombie Hitler himself couldn't ruin that.
;-)
On November 28th, Madman sent out an email to subscribers, merely asking "What are you up to next Friday?"
Followed by the statement, "I'd cancel all plans..."
As it turns out, on Friday, December 5th, they had a MASSIVE 50% off EVERYTHING sale!
( Want to know what I got? )

( Oh hell yes. =) )
Just to make sure I've be COMPLETELY in debt this holiday season, CaseFresh decided to have a clearance sale that was SO good, half of the stuff sold out by the time I'd even heard about it. ='(
( 28 figures? Totally! ) =D
What? There's MORE?! o_o
( Yep! )
That wraps it up for now (aren't you glad it's all over, too?).
If I don't post again in the next few days, Happy Holidays to all!
RM.
P.S. If you were wondering how much I spent on all of the above hauls, the answer is $hutYour.DamnedFace.

Like the phoenix of mythology, I am here once more.
( My recovery... )
One surprise haul helped immensely to lift my spirits...
( Find out what it was, and see it for yourself... )
( Burninating... )
( I went on a river cruise AND went to a huge, neon games arcade in ONE night? Yep, it's TRUE! )
Come back soon for the continuation in, MEGA BLOG #2...

Total: $265.00
Arrived on Thursday:

Of the apparel, I have only worn the Laughing Man hoody, and it is of absolutely excellent quality. So while this order didn't really fit into my budget at all, I have no regrets at snagging such an unparalleled lot of bargains.
Note #1: I've never seen/read Bleach or Full Metal Alchemist. I just bought those items based on pure aesthetic value.
Note #2: Yes, I am a Decepticon. ;-)
I opened the Dante figure yesterday and - in a surprise fit of inspiration - took a number of test photographs with a practical digital backdrop (my low-budget, digital version of rear-projection).
Unfortunately, the figure's left arm has a messed up joint just below the shoulder, so the arm falls off every time I move it. Not exactly what one wants in a figure that is built primarily for maximum posability.
Fortunately the test shoot turned out rather successfully for one so haphazardly executed, to the point where I think I will be making much more use of digital backdrops in future shoots.

( After so much pulling me down... )
Enter Armageddon...
(aka. Best Weekend Ever! Part 1)
2008.11.01 - Morning
After a tedious morning dealing with the landlords, I met up with my pal Kylie, and together we headed off to Armageddon Expo 2008!
This was my very first experience at a convention/expo, and what an experience it was!
Once there, we met up with
nikki_mischief &
annie_chan (who were CosPlaying as Madame Mirage & Grell Sutcliff, respectively).
It was great to be in a place where I could be as much of a geek as I wanted, and STILL didn't seem anywhere near as weird as other people. So much fun!
While there, I even met someone that I knew online,
leishpod, who was running one of the booths (hi Leish)!
I also got a HEAP of insanely cheap swag. Srsly. $8 Dementors (plural!) from NECA's Harry Potter Line?! MADNESS!!!
After all of our hauling, and spectating, we watched the documentary Heart Of An Empire, an award winning film about the Fighting 501st. By the time it had ended, there wasn't a dry eye in the room. Great film, and one I heartily recommend.
Shortly after that, Kylie & I split off from
nikki_mischief &
annie_chan, and headed home.
Here's a selection of photographs:

Just when you thought I was all HAULed out for the week, I went and re-HAULed myself AGAIN!!!

It has been many a year since I ventured to Melbourne's main comic/collectable stores, but on Sunday I got back into the swing of things with my new associate in geekdom,
